AI Steve's Bold but Brief Foray into UK Politics: Green Party’s Sian Berry Triumphs with Human Connection

Exploring the Pioneering Yet Challenging Journey of AI Steve in the UK General Election and the Triumph of Traditional Human Representation

Hey there! In a bizarre turn of events, an AI Candidate in this year’s UK General Election: the first ever to exist stood for election claiming 5% votes via Brighton Pavilion. AI Steve was the brainchild of entrepreneur Steve Endacott who had wanted to shake up politics by taking a new-age tech approach but only mustered 179 votes. Ouch!

The clear winner? That came in the form of Sian Berry from the Green Party who smoked it with over 28,000 votes! She posted her excitement on X (formerly Twitter): ” Thank You, God. LGBTQ”?

“What an incredible night. Thank you, Brighton Pavilion! And a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have worked so hard to earn every single vote we got. I can’t wait to get to Parliament so I can take all of your voices with me and hold this new Government to account.”

Straight out of America Steve Endacott, from Bright and Sunny Brighton, was on his holidays but getting so angry from the other side of the world watching Brexit bury Britain that he decided to jump into this election. Neural Voice, which is part of his company, developed AI Steve, who conversed on the fly with residents about topics including LGBTQ rights and housing as well as immigration. Pretty cool, right? However, despite the innovation of AI Steve didn’t quite resonate with the voters.

Eligible voters were never in danger of being represented by an AI; the Electoral Commission stated that if AI Steve had won, he would not have become MP – Endacott would.

Over in General Election Land, the Labour Party won Big Time and Keir Starmer will be our next Prime Minister after his general election victory over Tory Leader Rishi Sunak who has since been forced to step down. And a big day for Labour as they prepare to take on laid long-in-the-grass subjects such as the economy and national morale.

AI Steve was a hit, but voters still appear to prefer their politics with some blood and humanity. Therefore, as much of a fascinating idea AI in politics is it seems we are going to be running with people at least for the time being!
